ROMANIA: Doncafé maker reported a 40% growth in Q1 | Progresiv
Strauss Romania coffee maker, controlled by Israeli group Strauss, reported for the first quarter of 2015 sales of 63.06 million lei (63 million shekels), up by 40.1% compared to the same period last year. 
"The advance was the result of significant growth in volumes, influenced by the Easter holidays, as well as the sales recorded by the Amigo brand. Excluding Amigo’s performance, the company's sales in local currency reported in the first three months of this year an advance of only 27% ", according to the company's financial report.
Strauss completed in September 2014 the acquisition of instant coffee brand Amigo from Brazilian company Cia Iguacu de Café Soluvel, for 20 million dollars. The main brand of the company remains Doncafé.
Overall, the group reported sales of about 1.93 billion shekels (456 million euros) in the first quarter, down by 2.1% compared to the same period last year.
The value in lei of the financial indicators were calculated at an exchange rate of 1 shekel = 1.001 lei.
