ROMANIA: Cora still in the red in 2014 | Progresiv
Cora hypermarket chain, locally operated by Romania Hypermarche SA company, remained at loss last year. The retailer reported for 2014 a loss of 25 million lei (5.6 milllion euros), higher than the previous year when it reported a value of 14.5 million lei (3.3 million euros), according to the balance sheet submitted to the Trade Register. 
During the same period, the turnover registered a slight advance of 4.5%, reaching 1711 mllion lei (385.5 million euros), at the same level with 2014. In the last year, Cora chain has stopped investing in expansion on the Romanian market, although it previously announced plans to acquire more land for construction of new hypermarkets.
The retailer currently operates 12 hypermarkets, of which four are located in Bucharest. This month, the company gave up the location owned in Galleria Arad shopping center, this being the first Cora store tp be closed in Romania.
Cora is owned by French-Belgian group Louis Delhaize.
