ROMANIA: Caroli Foods Group launches logistic services division | Progresiv
Caroli Foods Group announces the launch of FoodLine Logistics, a company that will provide temperature controlled distribution and transport services for both its own products and those of its partners. The official opening of the new division comes five months after launching the pilot-program, an initiative which came at the time as a solution for optimizing the costs of increased sales volumes. In the long term, the goal is to turn a cost generating activity in a self-contained business, profitable for Caroli group. 
Currently, FoodLine Logistics has a car park with over 150 distribution and transportation vehicles and an additional 120 cars belonging to other departments. Daily, a flow of 120 vehicles of all transportation sizes (trucks, lorries, vans) works non-stop, on an annual basis being estimated a coverage of about 7 million km.
Caroli Foods Group is one of the main manufacturers of fresh cold cuts in Romania, with a portfolio of brands consisting of Campofrio, Caroli, Maestro and Sissi. In 2014, the company reported to the Ministry of Finance a turnover of 348 million lei and a profit of 17.8 million lei, slightly higher than the previous year, while the number of employees has remained fairly steady, around the figure of 1,100.
