ROMANIA: Bunge takes over 100% of Nutre Group shares | Progresiv
Bunge took over the stake held by Nutre in the Romanian joint venture Bunge-Prio, thus holds 100% of the company’s shares. The joint venture was established in 2012 in order to process oilseeds - sunflower, rapeseed and soybeans, but also to conduct the marketing and sales of sunflower oil brands Floriol and Unisol.
"Through this acquisition, Bunge Romania reconfirms its commitment to long-term development plans regarding agriculture and processing of oilseeds through the two factories in Lehliu and Buzau. Bunge’s goals in Romania seek further strengthening of relations with local partners through services and processes with added value, which will allow the company to retain its position as an important player in the import and export of Romanian agricultural products", said company representatives.
The Bunge Prio joint venture was created in 2012 between Bunge and Nutre Group and integrates capabilities of collection and processing of oilseeds held by the two companies in Romania and Bulgaria. After completing the joint venture, Bunge Romania had 583 employees and a turnover of 2.5 billion lei.
Bunge is present in Romania through the Buzau factory that produces refined oil for human consumption and the plant in Lehliu that on one hand produces grits and biodiesel and on the other hand processes oilseed for crude oil extraction. Bunge’s complete portfolio includes nine brands, the most important being Floriol, Unisol, Raza Soarelui and Ulvex.
