At the end of 2012, the two international retailers have reached an agreement for the sale of the operations in Romania, Poland, Ukraine and Russia of the hypermarket division of Metro. In Romania, the transaction was finalised a year later, after the conditional agreement given by the Competition Council.
Auchan currently operates 32 hypermarkets in Romania and plans to open another one this year.
