ROMANIA: Albalact’s takeover by Lactalis, analyzed by the Competition Council | Progresiv
The Romanian Competition Council analyses the takeover of Albalact, Raraul and Albalact Logistic by B.S.A. International, member of French group Lactalis. 
“The Competition authority will analyze this transaction in order to assess its compatibility with a normal competitive environment. A decision on this deal shall be issued in 45 days from the date the notification is effective”, reads a press release of the Competition Council.
Albalact, a company controlled by the Ciurtin family, announced in late January that it has received a takeover offer from French group Lactalis. For starters, Lactalis has signed a contract with vendor shareholders holding 70.3% of the aggregate capital of Albalact, namely: Raul Ciurtin, Lorena Beatrice Ciurtin, Crisware Holdings Limited, Croniar Holdings Limited (44,85%) and RC2 (Cyprus) Limited (25,45%).
In Romania, Lactalis group, one of the major international players on the global dairy market, owns Lactalis Romania, Dorna Lactate, Dorna SA and Parmalat Romania.
Albalact is the most important player on the Romanian dairy market.
