ROMANIA: After four years, Selgros resumes expansion with a new store concept | Progresiv
After about four years since the last opening, Selgros Cash & Carry Romania will inaugurate its second unit in Targu Mures, which will operate in a new format. 
The store is located in the center of Targu Mures and will have a smaller sales area - 4000 square meters compared to the 10,000 square meters of standard Selgros units. The assortment of foods will be the same, while the non-food articles, though limited, will be carefully selected.
"In the year we celebrate 15 years of market presence, we’re resuming the expansion of Selgros with a new store concept. Resuming of sales growth in our chain in all categories and predominantly gastro segment confirms that we are competitive and a benchmark for quality, assortment, price and customer service", said Alexandru Vlad, CEO Selgros Cash&Carry Romania.
Selgros Cash & Carry Romania started its activity on the local market in 2001 and currently has 19 stores in Bucharest, Brasov, Iasi, Targu Mures, Oradea, Cluj, Ploiesti, Timisoara, Craiova, Bacau, Galati, Braila, Arad, Suceava and Constanta.
The company reported a turnover of 2.3 billion lei in 2014, down by 8% from the previous year.
Selgros Cash&Carry Romania is part of Transgourmet Holding AG, the second largest chain of cash&carry and wholesale trade in Europe, with operations in Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Romania and Russia. In 2014, the Transgourmet group had 22,800 employees in Europe and revenues of about 7.5 billion euros.
