ROMANIA: 20% growth for Senator Wine’s business in 2015 | Progresiv
Senator Wine from Vrancea ended 2015 with a turnover of 15.6 million lei, up by 20% compared to 2014. In addition, the company marked a 15% increase in sales of Monser wines obtained from Romanian varieties, the company said. 
The range comprises of ten types of Romanian origin varieties, Babeasca Neagra, Zghihara, Busuioaca de Bohotin or Babeasca Gri.
In 2015 the company exported more than 800,000 bottles of wine in countries such as China, Russia, Japan and Canada. "In 2016 we will expand our focus on other markets as well, currently being in different stages of exploration. We are talking about South Korea, Benelux countries and the UK. In 2016 we expect to exceed 1.2 million bottles for export”, said the company director, George Neacsu.
Increases were also obtained on the organic wines segment, which occupies a share of about 25-30% of the total production of the company, the sales reported being 10% higher than in 2014.
The manufacturer has over 800 hectares of vineyards in Husi, Vrancea and Insuratei (Braila county). Of these, 250 hectares are planted with organic vines. Located around Insuratei, the ecological plantation is the largest in Southeast Europe.
Senator Wine has a portfolio of seven wine ranges. For the retail sector, the company's portfolio includes ranges Omnia and Suav, while for HoReCa were developed the wine ranges Varius, Glia and Hereditas.
