The Ultra Fresh category is one of its key traffic drivers, especially amongst HoReCa customers. Poland is the 11th country to take part in the UFO project including - Spain, Croatia, Netherlands and China. The two-week trial has run in Makro’s flagship store in Warsaw since February. The project recommendations will be implemented across network of stores by the end of February 2016.
The main characteristics of the UFO project: department layout changes, lowering of shelving units, expansion of Bio products assortment, expansion of fresh fish assortment, relocation of category manager’s post to improve communication with customers, new signage for ease of department navigation and general department revamp and improvement of light and decoration.
This will be second major department overhaul at Makro stores in Poland during last three years. In 2014, the retailer rolled out its new Non Food department under “5 Worlds” branding. (www.kantarretailiq.com)
