POLAND: Carrefour to focus on convenience | Progresiv
Carrefour aims to cover entire Poland with all its formats with a strong focus on convenience stores, Guillaume de Colonges, the CEO of Carrefour Poland said. 
The 2016 store expansion will be in the line with the previous year. Carrefour plans to open around 150 own as well as franchised stores. The retailer will invest 61 million euros) this year, out of which 37 million euros) will be allocated in the modernisation and remodelling of the current store network.
The remodelling programme has been running since 2014. Carrefour remodelled 15 hypermarkets, 50 supermarkets and nine shopping malls last year. In addition to that it opened one hypermarket, two supermarkets and 120 convenience stores.
Carrefour closed 2015 with 84 hypermarkets, 139 supermarkets and 573 convenience stores (370 Carrefour Express, 165 Globi and 38 Galerie Alkoholi outlets).
Having entered the Polish online market as the latest leading grocer at the end of 2015, eCarrefour currently offers only non-food products like computers, phones and accessories, cameras and household appliances. The fulfilment method is home delivery (2.30 euros), but Carrefour is testing a click & collect service in Krakow.
However, as Guillaume de Colonges the CEO of Carrefour Poland said, the retailer is planning to add food groceries to the offer, without giving a specific date for the launch. (www.igd.com)
