P&G starts the production of hand sanitizers | Progresiv
Procter & Gamble is among the producers of hand sanitizers in an attempt to support its global consumers in the fight against COVID-19. “Since January 2020, we have mobilized several teams from our organization to create production and distribution capacities of hand sanitizers - essential products in the fight against COVID-19. We made the first hand sanitizer 24 hours after obtaining the World Health Organization (WHO) approval on the product formula and the production recommendations, in the Gross-Gerau factory (in Germany)”, said Onofrio Caradonna, Europe Plant Shared Services Leader within P&G.
This is one of the most modern production units owned by the American company, whose main activity is the manufacture of Oral-B and blend-a-med toothpaste. Subsequently, P&G started the production of hand sanitizers at the factory in Lima (Ohio, United States). In the coming weeks, the company will enroll in this project five other factories from its global chain, its goal being to create a total production capacity of 45,000 liters per week.
“Currently, we produce surface disinfectants that we deliver in 55-gallon (approximately 208-liter) canisters to humanitarian organizations and offer hospitals and medical authorities Safeguard hand disinfectants in large packages. We also use these products in our own units, for the safety of our employees", Procter & Gamble representatives said.
Safeguard is an existing brand in the P&G portfolio for a long time, covering categories such as antibacterial soap and shower gel.
