Nestlé moves into personalised nutrition with new deal | Progresiv
Nestlé has moved into the personalised nutrition market with its acquisition of US-based business Persona, for an undisclosed price. The deal aims to tap into the growth of the personalised nutrition and wellness retail market, which is expected to rapidly grow to 50 billion dollars by 2025.
Persona provides customised vitamin nutritional assessments and programmes to customers, based on a proprietary algorithm that factors in the individual’s lifestyle, needs and medication history. The assessment aims to help individuals find the right nutritional supplements for their unique needs.
The deal is being conducted by the Nestlé Health Science business, with Persona now set to operate NHSc’s Atrium Professional Brands unit.
Greg Behar, CEO of Nestlé Health Science, noted: “Persona’s expertise in personalized nutrition brings a new dimension to the growing Nestlé Health Science portfolio. There’s increasing interest in personalization among consumers and with this acquisition, we will bring together the technology of Persona and the trusted Atrium Professional Brands’ vitamins and supplements.” (www.kamcity.com)
