Napolact producer: 2018 was the best year of the last 10 | Progresiv
FrieslandCampina Romania, one of the most important players on the local dairy market, ended 2018 with a turnover of 416.85 million lei, up by 8% over the previous year and a net profit of 12.28 million lei.
"2018 was the best year of the last ten, all relevant indicators - turnover, profit, market share - being on plus. Performance has been boosted by both the Napolact Bio ecological range and the other innovations, as well as support programs for partner farmers. This confirms that our strategy is good and determines us to continue, focusing on partnerships developed over time, from raw material producers to consumers", said Cornel Caramizaru, General Director of FrieslandCampina Romania.
The Napolact brand generated more than 75% of FrieslandCampina Romania sales in 2018, tripling its sales over the past 10 years. As for the Napolact Bio range, volumes have grown almost 6 times since their release in 2015, today, 1 in 5 Napolact consumers choosing a Napolact Bio product.
"2018 was a year of record also in investments. We have received a capital injection of 20 million euros from the group, to this investment adding 1.5 million euros that we allocate each year to increase production capacity, programs for farmers and develop new products, said Cornel Caramizaru.
What does 2019 bring?
In terms of expectations for 2019, the company expects to keep the growth pace despite the downward trend in the dairy category.
"We ended the first semester in line with the 2018 performance, but the downward trend of the dairy category raises some questions if we are talking about 2019 overall. For us, the cheese category has evolved far beyond the category and I think we are now in the moment when we collect the fruits of previous investments", the FrieslandCampina Romania representative pointed out.
The producer will continue to invest this year in expanding its portfolio. "We want to surprise the consumer with simple and authentic recipes. Thus, we launched the Napolact Cremos de-al nostru, a product with an authentic Romanian recipe, with a texture similar to the Greek yogurt.
FrieslandCampina Romania is part of the Dutch company Royal FrieslandCampina, an organization in the top of the world's largest dairy producers. FrieslandCampina is present on the Romanian market with the brands Napolact, Frico, Milli, Oke and Dots and offers a wide range of products: consumption milk, yogurt, cheese, butter and milk based snacks.
More information about Napolact's future strategy can be read in a broad interview in the August issue of the Progresiv magazine.
