Modern retail openings in July in Romania | Progresiv
International retailers have focused on expanding their chains in July, a total of 14 commercial units being opened. The first position among the most expansive retailers is occupied this month by Profi, who opened 10 stores, followed by Mega Image, Carrefour, Penny Market and Lidl, each retailer with one opening. 
Profi has focused on expanding the standard format, five units being inaugurated under the Profi banner. Also, the retailer marked four openings for the City format and one for Profi Loco format. With these openings, the retailer owned by Polish investment fund Enterprise Investors has reached the threshold of 424 business units operated in 201 locations across the country.
Belgian retailer Mega Image has continued to invest in its proximity chain expansion, opening a new Shop & Go store in Brasov. With this opening, the total number of units has reached 482, of which 264 belong to the proximity segment.
Carrefour opened its seventh supermarket in Timisoara, the Market chain thus reaching 111 commercial units operated nationwide. Penny Market, part of the German group Rewe, has added a new locality on the expansion map, opening the second unit from Drobeta-Turnu Severin. By opening this store the Penny Market chain reached 177 stores.
Lidl also continued its investments in Romania by opening a new store in the Capital. This is the fourth opening of the retailer since the beginning of the year, its chain reaching at this time 196 stores nationwide.
