Migros Switzerland reports positive 2016 sales growth | Progresiv
Migros Switzerland sales for the group were up 1% to CHF 27.7 billion (25.8 billion euros). Sales were up on 2015, in particular helped by the growth of Migros' international operations. Market conditions have been tough in Switzerland, with shopping tourism and negative geopolitical events affecting trading, but Migros has been able to perform well despite this. The Cooperatives which form part of the group, saw sales increase by 0.1% to CHF 15.6 billion (14.5 billion euros). 
The Denner discount banner saw sales increase to CHF 2.97 billion (2.77 billion euros), growth of 2%. Tegut, a supermarket format which operates in Germany, saw sales increase by 4% to CHF 1.1bn (1.02 billion euros). Ecommerce also performed well and is one of the retailers key priorities. The LeShop online site saw sales grow by 3.5% to CHF 182 million (170 million euros). After a successful launch of PickMup, Migros' online pick up service, the network was expanded to 305 pick up locations.
Sustainable and regional products continue to grow in popularity and generated sales of CHF 3.8 billion (3.54 billion euros). The Alnatura range saw sales double in the year, which aligns to the growing trend for organic products in the Swiss market. Free from products were another area where sales increased in 2016.
