Management change for GSK Consumer Healthcare Romania and Balkans | Progresiv
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Healthcare announces the appointment of Sylwia Piankowska in the position of General Manager for Romania and the Balkan countries. Sylwia takes over the position from Helen Tomlinson, who has been appointed General Manager of GSK Consumer Healthcare Iberia. 
In her new role, Sylwia will lead GSK Consumer Healthcare business operations in 8 countries and a team of over 100 employees, with the goal of further growth in the region.
"I am very excited to coordinate operations in Romania and the Balkan countries and to further strengthen Helen’s and the team’s efforts so far. We want to further develop strong partnerships with our customers and healthcare professionals", said Sylwia Piankowska about taking on the new position.
Sylwia has accumulated a rigorous commercial experience in the FMCG sector. Since joining GSK, in August 2002, Sylwia held numerous strategic brand and category management roles, in Poland and in Central and Eastern Europe.
Between 2011 and 2014 Sylwia served as Director of Marketing of oral care category for Central and Eastern Europe and has developed a regional strategy for the oral care products category, resulting in an increase of 30% of the business. She also held the role of Mass Market Business Unit Director within GSK Consumer Healthcare Poland, and in the last two years has been oral care and OTC Marketing Director for Central and Eastern Europe.
Before joining GSK, Sylwia worked in Marketing and Market Research departments within Procter & Gamble. She graduated in Management, Psychology and Art History from the University of Warsaw. Sylwia is of Polish origin and mother of two children.
In Romania, GSK has a tradition of over 25 years, with more than 150 million euros invested in the local market, according to a company statement. In 2015, the company reported a turnover of almost 200 million lei to the Ministry of Finance.
The local portfolio of products includes brands such as Theraflu®, ParaSinus®, Panadol®, Voltaren®, Sensodyne®, Parodontax®, Corega® and Aquafresh®.
