Lidl UK unveils 55 million pounds regional distribution centre in Southampton | Progresiv
Lidl has announced the opening of a new regional distribution centre in Southampton, in the UK, following an investment of 55 million pounds.
The new development, which underlines Lidl's commitment to expanding in the UK, covers 39,000 square metres of space, making it Lidl's biggest DC in the country.
The facility will help to service stores in 'Hampshire, Dorset and West Sussex, supporting Lidl’s expanding operations in the south of England', the retailer said in a statement.
“The opening of our new Southampton RDC marks an incredibly exciting time for the business, particularly in the South," said Marco Ivone, regional director at Lidl UK.
"Not only is it necessary to accommodate the scale of our existing and future operations in the area, we have been able to create significant job opportunities as a result of the new warehouse and will continue to invest in the South as we move forward with our expansion plans."
Lidl made a commitment in November of last year to invest 1.5 billion pounds over the next three years in building its footprint in the UK. (www.esmmagazine.com)
