Lidl continues innovating in Poland | Progresiv
Lidl is testing new promotional mechanics and launching a local private label range in Poland.
The German retailer is going to introduce a new private label range Polska smakuje (Poland tastes good). The range will include local products for which Polish cuisine is traditionally famous like plum brandy, veal dumplings and sausages. The launch will be supported by promotions on non-food items aimed at driving traffic in the stores.
Recent development is suggesting that Lidl may list more regional products in the future. Lidl launched around 100 regional product in Switzerland in March 2016, however, in contrast to Poland, the Swiss products were sourced from local brand manufacturers.
Lidl has launched a new promotional mechanics based on rounded price point. The discounter is offering on promotion around 100 grocery items for the price of PLN2 (EUR0.45). All products are Lidl's own brands.
While with the first initiative is Lidl reacting to the new shopper trend as Poles increasingly favour Polish products, we consider the latter initiative as a test of a new promotional mechanics. (www.igd.com)
