La Lorraine Romania, investment of 12.5 million euros for expanding bread and pastry production | Progresiv
In Lorraine Romania, the bakery producer owned by the Belgian group of the same name and the distributor Macromex, invested 12.5 million euros in Campia Turzii for the installation of a new production line. The products made here will reach both the domestic and export markets such as Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Greece.
The fifth production line will be dedicated to high quality rustic bread, made with nutritious ingredients such as maia and seeds. It is almost fully automated, with a production capacity of 160,000 products per day.
The 12.5 million euros investment from Campia Turzii led to the creation of new jobs. Thus, by the end of this year, 20 people will be hired, and by the end of next year another 40 operators will be employed.
"This investment strengthens our position as the leading producer of bread and pre-baked pastry in Romania. Our country has been chosen for its geographical positioning and because it can cover a large market in this region. We are constantly trying to find out what the market trends and needs are, and this new line responds to the wishes of consumers who want fresh products, nutritionally rich made with maia and seeds that also have the taste of artisan bread. Obviously, these investments are not small, and the fact that La Lorraine has chosen to make them proves our orientation towards sustainable growth, with long-term planning”, said Razvan Bosomoiu, General Manager La Lorraine Romania.
La Lorraine Romania is one of the main suppliers of pre-baked products on the Romanian market. In 2018, 36,000 tons of frozen pre-baked bread and frozen pastry were made in the Câmpia Turzii factory. 30,000 tons reached the domestic market, and 6,000 tons reached export.
La Lorraine Romania is a joint venture between Macromex and the Belgian manufacturer of bakery and pastry products La Lorraine Bakery Group, the factory owned by the company being opened in 2011 in Campia Turzii. In 2015, a major investment program was started to expand the plant and install three new production lines.
The Belgian La Lorraine Group owns 12 bakery factories in Europe and sells bakery products in 25 countries. The company ended 2018 with a turnover of 775 million euros.
