Kaufland’s online venture gains pace with hiring of logistics expert | Progresiv
Kaufland has reportedly taken another big step towards its online ambitions. Having launching its first mobile application only a few weeks ago, the company is now said to have signed top Zalando manager Christoph Stark. Starting in July, he will become Head of Operations for Kaufland´s international omni-channel department.
Beyond rolling out the e-commerce business, Stark is also supposed to establish a food-delivery service including pick-up points in the Berlin area as a pilot. If so, Kaufland would be first to introduce pick-up points in Germany, following Ahold´s example, who already operate such a model in the Netherlands and the US.
Stark does have a strong reputation, having successfully established and maintained Zalando´s logistics network in 15 countries. (www.retaillogistics.guru)
