Kaufland Romania, 100 million euros expansion budget for 2016 | Progresiv
German retailer Kaufland budgeted for the financial year 2016 investments of 100 million euros for expanding the chain of stores, but also for remodeling the existing units, said Valer Hancas, Manager Corporate Affairs & Communication Kaufland. Regarding expansion plans, the retailer wants to open six stores this year, the most recent opening being the hypermarket in Ferentari. "We will continue the expansion plans of the chain, for this year 6 new commercial units being planned", said Valer Hancas. 
Except the Ferentari store, Kaufland marked only one more opening this year (in the Capital, on the former Grivita brewery location) and is expected to open four more commercial units in Mangalia (August), Lugoj, Codlea and Bucharest.
Kaufland, part of German group Schwarz, is among the largest retail companies in Europe, with over 1,200 stores in seven countries (Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania). In 2015 the company recorded a turnover of 9.2 billion lei, up 20% over the previous year, and this year the company's representatives stated that the objective is to keep the company Kaufland in addition, not being communicated and pace growth.
