Kaufland and food app Too Good To Go launch joint test | Progresiv
Too Good To Go specializes in offering food online at a discounted price just before closing time, saving it from going to waste. This is also the starting point for the new partnership with Kaufland in Germany: “Foods that have not yet been sold in Kaufland selected stores just before closing time can be bought by interested customers as a kind of ‘surprise bag’,” says Fabian Schinke, responsible at Kaufland for commercial catering. The goods, which would normally cost around 10 euros, are sold at “Too Good To Go” for 3 euros. For this, the buyer receives a small package with snacks, for example, sausages, hot dogs, meatloaf, steaks or Schnitzel.
Kaufland is currently offering the service of the app “Too Good To Go” at the outlets of five branches: in Aachen, Bad Durrheim, Bad Kreuznach, Heidelberg-Rohrbach and Oranienburg. “Food must be handled responsibly, so we first test our cooperation with a handful of snacks, so that both sides get a sense of how the other one works.” If the offer is well received by customers, we would like to continue working with them expand, “says Schinke.
Customers can easily participate in the food rescue: After downloading the app, the customer can select the offer. Payment is also via the mobile phone. With the purchase receipt, the customer picks up the order at the Kaufland snack bar fifteen minutes before closing time. (www.internationalsupermarketnews.com)
