ITALY: Private label sales grew by 1.7% in 2015 | Progresiv
Italian supermarket purchasing consortium, Supermercati Uniti Nazionali (SUN) has reported a 1.7% growth in private label sales in 2015, with peaks for fruit and vegetable (up 6.7%) and chilled products (5.7%). 
The analysis carried out by the Business Intelligence unit of the SUN consortium, based on IRI data, also shows increased sales in the private label Beverages (1.2%), Ambient Grocery (1.4%), Personal Care (1.5%) and Fresh Produce (0.9%) categories.
On the other hand, private label household and pet care products both saw a drop in sales in 2015 of 1.5% and 3.7% respectively. last year.
In the case of products of SUN’s private label brand Consilia, total sales were up by 16.1%, with the highest growth registered by chilled products (44.8%).
The other categories under the Consilia brand that saw significant growth were beverages (12.5%), fresh (14.5%), ambient grocery products (16.1%), home care (17.1%) and pet care (12.1%). (www.esmmagazine.com)
