Intermarché France trials external home delivery lockers | Progresiv
Intermarché France is testing lockers for home delivery that customers can install outdoors, preferably in the garden of their residence. The lockers can be unlocked using Bluetooth and a specific application. The lockers resemble large cabinets and appear to feature chilled compartments from images circulated on social media.
The application, called Kofr, is available on Google Play and the Apple store. Currently, the service is being offered at the Saint-Genis Pouilly hypermarket store in Ain. Customers can choose a preferred delivery time, track the delivery status and unlock the safety locker using the Kofr application, which is available 24x7. The test is being conducted as a low-key trial and has not been widely publicised beyond the particular store involved.
The lockers are designed to enable delivery of items in the absence of customers. Cdiscount and Franprix are currently testing a method that allows for in-home delivery where couriers can access the home via smart locks, but this method appears less intrusive. However, several details have not been disclosed such as, for example, whether the customer pays for the locker installation or costs are covered by the retailer. (www.kantarretailiq.com)
