FRANCE: Pernod Ricard sells some brands to Emperador | Progresiv
Pernod Ricard has sold its Domecq brandy and sherry business to Emperador, the world’s largest maker of brandy, for an undisclosed price. The deal will be conducted by Emperador’s Bodega Las Copas joint venture with Gonzalez Byass.
The deal includes the portfolio of Mexican brandies Presidente, Azteca de Oro and Don Pedro, as well as a winery related to the production of Mexican wines in Ensenada. Additionally, it includes inventories related to the Domecq brands in several markets, including Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, and the US.
The move is the latest divestment by Pernod Ricard, and is the latest acquisition by Philippine-based Emperador. The latter said the deal “fits perfectly” with its strategy to reinforce its leadership in the global brandy category. (www.kamcity.com)
