Food and beverages sales in Romania rose by 23% in H1 | Progresiv

Food, drinks and tobacco sales reported a gross increase of 23.5% in the first six months of 2016 and a 24.1% seasonally adjusted advance compared to the same period of last year, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics.

In June, sales of food and beverages increased by 14% as gross series and by 12.9% depending on the number of working days compared to June of last year.

Compared to May, sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered in June an advance of 6.6% as gross series and an increase of 2% as adjusted series.

Overall, the turnover of retail trade (except for motor vehicles and motorcycles) reported in the first six months of 2016 an increase of 18% as gross series and of 16.8% depending on the number working days and seasonality compared to the same period of last year, according to INS.
