Dusan Wilms reinvents Real stores on the local market | Progresiv
One and a half years after the takeover by Terazone Enterprises, a company controlled by Gerardo Monzillo and Dusan Wilms, both former Metro managers, Real is reinventing on the local market and investing in the proximity segment. The retailer inaugurated earlier this year, in Oradea, the first two units on this format.
The stores operate under the Remarkt brand and were inaugurated in Prima Residence, on No. 8 Nicolae Bolcas Street, respectively, No 4A Sucevei Street.
Although we are talking about a city with about 200,000 inhabitants, the competition on this sales segment is fierce, with Oradea having the Market (5 stores), Profi (6 Profi and 6 Profi City) chains, as well as local players such as Trei G, Unicarm , Nova Euro, Iftinel and others.
Real has been present on the local market since 2006 and has been one of the most important international players in the local market. In 2012, Auchan took over 20 Real stores in a deal worth 250 million euros, and in early 2017 Metro sold the last four Real hypermarkets to Terazone Enterprises, controlled by Gerardo Monzillo and Dusan Wilms, for 88 million euros. At the moment, only two hypermarkets under the Real brand are operating on the local market, in Oradea and Arad, the other two units being leased to the Jumbo toys retailer.
