CZECH REPUBLIC: Ahold completes rebranding of Spar, Interspar outlets | Progresiv
Ahold has completed the conversion of all the 49 Spar and Interspar outlets it acquired last year, bringing them all under its Albert banner. With the move, Albert operates 334 stores in the country.
The group noted: “We have made only minor changes in the stores, as they were well-appreciated and loved by customers. So customers will see all the main attributes as before, but now with lower prices”.
Ahold said it lowered the prices of around 4,000 products to Albert levels, and introduced Albert’s fruit and vegetables offering to Spart. It also tested around 700 own label products and eventually decided to introduce the Albert own label range at the former Spar stores, and Spar’s speciality own labels (Freeform and Veggie) at Albert stores. The moves will double the own label offer to 2,000 products.
The group is also retaining the deli and meat offering in the former Interspar stores as it was, and has additionally decided to roll out the Interspar meat branding, a Czech speciality meat line and several popular wines to Albert stores.
Albert also noted that it is expanding cooperation with regional suppliers, which it said was “key for us”. The chain added: “We are responding to growing customer demand for domestic foods from their favourite manufacturers. Through these local suppliers, which we specifically promote at the point-of-sale, we have managed to achieve a greater connection with the local community”. (www.kamcity.com)
