CROATIA: Konzum opens flagship store in Zagreb | Progresiv
Croatian food retailer Konzum has opened a new flagship store in Zagreb, as part of a 30 million koruna (3.90 million euros) investment. Super Konzum Radnička is in fact a refurbished store that was previously the site of the Mercator Center, operated by Slovenian peer Mercator, before the merger with Konzum’s parent company Agrokor.
As well as boasting a range of some 37,000 products, the 5,100 square metre store offers numerous new features and services, including the Juice Bar, Gastroteka (ready meals, sushi & wok products, grill, pizzas and pastas, coffee and cakes), Winter Garden, Konzum Pub (over 100 beer brands from 13 countries) and the Dream Factory (toy department).
The Fruit & Veg department includes 30 new exotic fruits and an expanded range of local products, while the in-house Butcher features 50 different meat delicacies, including Kobe beef and Argentinean lamb. In addition, the Fish Market sells more than 50 different species of fish, while the Delicatessen has selected hams from Spain and Italy and more than 120 different cheese species from around the world.
Super Konzum Radnička is located in a shopping mall that also includes, for the first time, Tesco’s standalone fashion retail store, F&F, which plans to open another 7-8 stores in Croatia in 2016, before expanding to other countries of the former Yugoslavia region. (www.esmmagazine.com)
