Coop Italia opens ‘Supermarket of the Future’ in Milan | Progresiv
Coop Italia has opened what it has described as the ‘Supermarket of the Future’, building on the positive experience of the Future Food District at last year’s Milan Expo. Featuring technological innovation and interactivity, the store is located at Bicocca Village (Milan) and is a joint project with Coop Lombardia and Consorzio Nord Ovest.
The supermarket is spread over about 900 square metres, next to the catering area (FiorFood Cibo&Incontri) which covers an additional 200 square metres. The product offer consists of more than 6,000 items, with a substantial component of take away products and self-service for fresh products.
Among the services offered by the store are Coop Drive, offering consumers the possibility of ordering groceries online and collecting them after two hours.
The investment in the project amounts to 4.5 million euros. (www.esmmagazine.com)
