The Competition Council relaunches the Price Monitor | Progresiv
The online platform that allows consumers to find out the prices charged by major food retailers was re-launched on Tuesday, October 15th.
"Starting today we have the Price Monitor platform in complete formula. Consumers can check the prices of both food and fuel, without having to travel to the physical locations of the stores, respectively the petrol stations. They will know which of the traders has the best offer, as well as the amount of money they will spend, because they have calculated it in advance”, said Bogdan Chiritoiu, president of the Competition Council.
The Food Price Monitor represents the updated version of the pilot project, launched in 2016, accessible only in the Bucharest-Ilfov region, which displayed prices for 128 products (64 generic product categories, for each of them two individual product prices were available: cheapest and best-selling).
In its current form, the Food Price Monitor can be accessed nationwide on mobile, tablet or PC and displays information on approximately 30,000 products sold in over 1,700 stores.
Through the platform, consumers can identify both the stores available in the area in which they are located, the stores where the products they want to purchase are available, as well as the prices charged by them. So far, the chains of stores participating in the project are Carrefour, Kaufland, Penny, Selgros, Mega Image, Lidl, Cora and Auchan.
