Carrefour Spain debuts new big-box food service concept | Progresiv
Carrefour Spain has launched a new restaurant concept called El Mercado de Sanse at a hypermarket store in Madrid. Unlike the previous restaurant-in-store concept introduced in 2016, the retailer aims to provide customers with personalised breakfast to dinner menu options besides offering an assortment of over 100 varieties, either to be consumed in-store or as takeaway.
The new space is located in the Madrid hypermarket in San Sebastián de los Reyes and employs 28 professionals. This project differs from other markets in the chain located in the commercial gallery and with an offer of products from other catering firms. Supermarkets are exploring other ways of approaching consumers and a clear sample is the 'ready to eat' with prepared dishes that Mercadona or Lidl already developed.
The new restaurant has an area of 800 square meters, in which different options are made available to the client, such as a bar dedicated to salads, even sushi or yakisobas, Hawaiian poké bar, Heura burger and other vegan options such as empanadillas, side dishes and vegan salads.
As for traditional cuisine, customers can taste or take home some dishes such as rice, peppers, stuffed eggplants, pasta dishes, roasted chicken and ribs, croquettes or cachopos, among others.
The service provided to the client has the objective that he can enjoy it at any time of the day, from breakfast to dinner. In this way, the consumer has the option to eat in the market or to customize their take-out menu, choose the side dish or choose the meat or fish at the same time and ask them to prepare it to their liking.
