Carrefour Poland expands premium supermarket format | Progresiv
Carrefour has opened a new premium supermarket in Podkowa Lesna, near Warsaw, Poland. The store follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Bialoleka store in Warsaw which was the first to adopt the new format.
The new format emphasizes key footfall driver categories like fresh fruit and vegetables (200 SKUs), bio products, local and regional produce as well as a broad selection of international produce.
The stores feature an in-store bakery, smoke-house, fresh juice machines to strengthen the fresh offer proposition.
Features such as lowered aisles and improved signage aid navigation, while complementary categories are grouped together to ease shopping.
The Podkowa Lesna store store groups some 15,000 SKUs on a 1,100 square meters selling area and was formerly operated by local competitor Marcpol, currently under liquidation. The Bialoleka store spans over 2,000 square meters. (www.kantarretailiq.com)
