Carrefour launches the second edition of the "Growing Bio Romania" program | Progresiv
Carrefour Romania launches the second edition of the program to support Romanian farmers who want to make the switch to eco farming. The "Growing Bio Romania" program was conceived as a program to support sustainable agriculture and the consumption of bio products.
Anca Damour, Executive Board Member Carrefour Romania says that "Growing Bio Romania" program was born of the desire to give any farmer the chance to enter the process, sometimes laborious, of the bio certification, being - at the same time - attentive to the growing interest of our consumers for this product segment, but also for a sustainable practice, with a greater attention to the protection of the environment".
Currently, 75 farmers are in different stages of conversion, within the program.
"Bio is the agriculture of the future, and the world is already beginning to realize the benefits and to look for products grown naturally and with care for nature", says Iulian Tunsu, one of the farmers enrolled last year in the Carrefour program.
The second edition is addressed to all farmers who are interested in the conversion to bio, regardless of the location or size of their production. Also, farmers who are going to certify their crops for the first time and those who are already in the process of conversion can also enroll in the program.
The first edition of the "Growing Bio Romania" program, launched in March 2019, had over 200 registered farmers, of which 75 were eligible. Starting with June of this year, their products will be available in Carrefour with the label "In conversion to BIO", bringing the local production in the course of BIO certification closer to the consumer.
