Carrefour launches its New Contact concept in four French regions | Progresiv
The first three Carrefour "New Contact" stores opened their doors last week. These new surfaces offer more bio products, more fresh products and a restaurant area.
This is the new concept imagined by the supermarket chain Carrefour, who launched the first Contact pilot stores, called "New Contact", as explainsed by the specialized site LSA Conso. For now, the banner will be inaugurated in four regions for a test period before deployment throughout France in the course of the year 2020. The stores of Saint-Xandre (Charente-Maritime), Melgven (Finistère) and Tassin-la-Demi-Lune (Rhone) have been renovated with the colors of the new concept and have already opened. The fourth test will be done the week starting December 9 in Fauquembergues, Pas-de-Calais.
In detail, these stores are cut for rural or peri-urban areas. The organic offer is enriched and the traditional fresh aisles have been reworked, like the concept developed in Carrefour Contact. A "wine cellar" corner was also thought by teams while an area equipped with chairs, tables and microwave ovens has appeared to allow restoration on site.
With these "New Contact", the supermarket chain wants to continue the modernization of its supermarkets. As for Contact, Carrefour redefines the city version of its convenience stores under the New Express concept. "By 2022, half of Express and Contact will be transformed to receive these new concepts," says Alexandre de Palmas, Proximity director Carrefour France, to LSA Conso. A novelty that goes with "a deep modernization of the existing park", he explains.
Carrefour has embarked on a major development program under the leadership of Alexandre Bompard who, shortly after his arrival in 2017, launched the Carrefour 2022 program. (www.capital.fr)
