Biedronka to open 100 more stores in Poland | Progresiv
Poland's leading discount retailer Biedronka is planning to open 100 more stores, Jeronimo Martins, Biedronka's Portuguese owner, has reported.
The retail chain is planning to improve its offer and become a price leader on the Polish market.
Biedronka opened 50, redeveloped 145 and closed 17 shops in the first nine months of 2016. The network consisted of 2,700 shops as of end-September.
Biedronka's sales increased by 9.9 percent year-on-year between January and September 2016, with like-for-like sales up by 8.7 percent. Biedronka's annual revenue reached 7.16 billion euros by the end of September, up by 5 percent year-on-year. The Jeronimo Martins Group's net profit in the first three quarters of 2016 amounted to 502 million euros, which compares to 252 million euros in the same period last year. (www.pap.pl)
