Agricola business advanced by 7% in H1 | Progresiv
Agricola group of companies reported an increase of almost 7%, in turnover, reaching 364.7 million lei in the first 6 months of 2019, compared to the same period of last year. 
Agricola International SA, the most important company of the group, reported in the mentioned period a turnover of 241.8 million lei and had a value increase of 11%. "Our strategy continues to rely on sales of slow-growing chickens, where Agricola holds 80% of the domestic market", said the president of Agricola Group S.A, Grigore Horoi.
The turnover of the Salbac cold cuts company, also owned by Agricola Group, increased in the first 6 months by 7%, reaching almost 65 million lei.
The semi-prepared and ready-meal products category, obtained at the Europrod factory, reported an increase of 12.3% (27.5 million lei) in the same period. At Europrod, at the beginning of this year, an investment exceeding 5.5 million euros was completed, which doubled its production capacity.
In the category of fresh eggs, obtained at Avicola Lumina - Constanta, Agricola reported in the first half of the year a turnover of 26.4 million lei, a value similar to that of the first semester of 2018.
Agricola holds 18% of the market for chicken meat and 19% of the market of semi-prepared and ready-meal products, and the Agricola Sibiu salami has an average market share of 50% in the total segment of Sibiu salami marketed in Romania (according to Nielsen data cited by the company).
Agricola, a company with a market history of 26 years, is one of the largest producers of chicken meat in Romania and the main exporter in this category. Last year Agricola came out of the proximity retail activity, giving up its own chain of stores, and earlier this year it left the business of Comcereal - trader and cereal producer.
