AB InBev beats expectations with Q1 growth | Progresiv
Anheuser-Busch InBev reported better-than-expected growth for its fiscal first quarters, despite lower volumes in key markets.
AB InBev saw its first-quarter revenue grow by 3.7% to 12.9 billion dollars on an organic basis, with operating profit up 5.5% to 3.7 billion dollars on the same basis. Overall volumes, however, declined by 0.5%, hurt by a 0.2% decrease in beer and 2.7% drop in non-beer volumes.
The group was helped by improvement in key regions such as Latin America (North & South) and Asia Pacific, as it global brands recorded a 12% rise in revenue. The group recorded growth in Mexico, South Africa, and Europe. It also reported better results in Brazil, its second-largest market, and said it remains “cautiously optimistic” for the year ahead.
