Salconserv Food company, owned by Romanian businessmen Raul Ciurtin and Eberhart Răducanu, has invested EUR3m in the Verdino brand, which offers over 30 products based on peas protein, a substitute for meat.
Salconserv Food started production at the end of 2018 and reached RON8.3m in revenues at the end of 2019. It currently employs 80 people and targets RON12.2m in revenues.
Verdino products, including burgers, mince meat, sausages, and cheese varieties offer a similar taste and texture with that of meat. The products are rich in fiber and proteins and are lactose-, soy- and GMOs-free, according to the company.
"Verdino is the foundation for a whole new category of products, and we are proud to be able to say that the food of the future is made also in Romania. We started exporting plant-based Verdino products this year," Eberhart Răducanu, CEO of Salconserv Food said.
Verdino Products are available nationwide at large retailers such as Cora, Auchan, Profi, and Rewe.
