The Romanian National Statistics Institute (INS) announced that consumer prices grew by almost 2,3% in May when compared to same month in 2019.
Food products have seen a 5,25% growth, while non-food products prices rose by only 0.25%.
Prices for fresh fruits and potatoes spiked by 24,6% and 20,8%, respectively. Flour was also more expensive (+5,74%), leading to an increase in the price of bread (+3,04%).
The only decrease in prices reported by INS was for eggs (-4%).
When compared to the end of 2019, consumer prices in May were 4,78% higher.
