Xavier Piesvaux, former Mega Image CEO, takes over Delhaize Belgium | Progresiv
Xavier Piesvaux, the manager of Mega Image chain between 2009 and 2016, was appointed CEO of Delhaize Belgium. Piesvaux will replace Denis Knoops and take up his official position as of September 11th.
"Xavier Piesvaux is the suitable successor to make Delhaize the favorite store in Belgium and Luxembourg. Delhaize remains the leading brand of the Ahold Delhaize Group in Belgium, with no less than 700 stores", according to the group’s press release.
The manager will report directly to Wouter Kolk, the current CEO of Albert Heijn, who joins Ahold Delhaize's Executive Committee as COO for Belgium and the Baltic Countries.
Piesvaux has over 25 years of experience in retail. The manager came to Romania and Delhaize Group team in 2006 as Operational Manager of Mega Image. At that time, the chain counted only 19 stores. In 2009, Piesvaux was promoted to the company's leadership and then the retailer started an extremely ambitious expansion plan with about 100 store inaugurations a year.
In 2016, after nearly 10 years in the company, Piesvaux left for Walmart in Eastern Canada as Vice President.
