"Very good" results for Auchan Romania in H1 | Progresiv
French retailer Auchan reported a 11% increase in sales in the first six months of the year in Eastern Europe - a region of which Romania is part, announcing that Hungary, Ukraine and especially Romania achieved very good results in this period , without communicating the amounts. 
"In Eastern Europe, Hungary, Ukraine and Romania continued to record solid sales performance. On the other hand, Russia saw a decline in local currency sales, due to the difficult macroeconomic environment but also the decrease in purchasing power ", the company's financial report said.
The first six months of this year brought a strategic move for the French at Auchan to the local market, and the retailer signed a partnership with OMV Petrom to develop a chain of proximity stores under the MyAuchan brand at Petrom stations. So far, the retailer marked four openings and the chain will reach 15 commercial units by the end of the year.
At group level, Auchan Retail had a net revenue of 25.9 billion euros, up by 2.1% from the same period last year at current exchange rates.
Auchan is one of the main players in the global retail market, operating in 17 countries. In Romania, the retailer owns 33 hypermarkets and 4 MyAuchan proximity stores. Last year, Auchan Retail Romania reported a turnover of 1.09 billion euros, up by 10% over the previous year.
