Romanian manager Silviu Popovici to lead PepsiCo operations in 65 countries | Progresiv
Silviu Popovici, the most powerful Romanian executive within PepsiCo, has recently been appointed president of the Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA) area, thus leading the company's operations in 65 countries.
The appointment will take effect on September 1st and has been based on Popovici's performance of “successfully running PepsiCo business in Russia and Eastern Europe on a volatile market”, according to the Group's press release.
Silviu Popovici has so far led PepsiCo businesses in 12 countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and the other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. With annual revenues of more than 5.5 billion dollars, 30 factories and over 25,000 employees, the region is the largest PepsiCo business outside the US.
In Romania, more than 20 years ago, Silviu Popovici was part of the Coca-Cola Hellenic and Bristol-Myers-Squibb teams. Since leaving Romania in 1998 and until 2006, he worked in Russia and Ukraine for Coca-Cola Hellenic. The last position within Coca-Cola Hellenic was that of Country Manager Ukraine. In 2006, Silviu Popovici joined WimmBill-Dann, Russia's largest food company, bought by PepsiCo in 2011.
