ROMANIA: Untdelemn de la Bunica increased its volumes by 15% last year | Progresiv
Untdelemn de la Bunica, the leader of local vegetable oil market and the most important brand in the Expur portfolio, increased its volumes by 15% last year, according to data released by the French group Avril, the owner of Expur.
"In recent years, Romanian consumers have bought less vegetable oil but of superior quality, the evolution being determined by three factors: a slight decrease in the number of inhabitants, improving the living standards of the population and raising awareness for the benefits of a healthy diet. In this context, the market leader - Untdelemn de la Bunica - had a very good growth of 15% in volume thanks to products that allowed it to gain new consumers", shows the quoted report.
On the Romanian market, sunflower oil is still at the top of the preferences, but consumers have recently turned to olive oil, according to company data. "For this reason, in partnership with Lesieur Cristial, we launched last year an extra virgin olive oil under the Zagora brand. At present, the product is in the testing phase in the major chain stores in Bucharest", reads Avril’s report.
Expur is the local subsidiary of French group Avril. Untdelemn de la Bunica brand entered Expur's portfolio in 2013 after the producer took it over from Cargill group. The company reported a turnover of 1.13 billion lei in 2017, slightly increased compared to 2016, with two different lines of business, employing over 400 people: bottled sunflower oil and biodiesel.
