ROMANIA: Sales of food, beverages and tobacco, +10% in August | Progresiv

Trade of food, beverages and tobacco reported in August an increase of 10.9% as gross series and an advance of 7% depending on the number of working days and seasonality compared to August last year, according to the National Institute of Statistics.

Compared to July, sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased in August by 4.8% as gross series and by 1.2% in terms of number of working days.

In the first eight months of this year, INS data showed an increase of 4.8% in gross series and a 3.8% seasonally adjusted advance for food, beverages and tobacco sales over the same period of last year.

Overall, the volume of retail sales, excluding car sales, reported an increase of 9.3% as gross series and 8.4% in terms of number of working days and seasonality in the first eight months of 2017.
