ROMANIA: Sales of food and beverages, 21.4% decline in January 2017 | Progresiv
Sales of food, beverages and tobacco reported a 21.4% decline in January 2017 as gross series compared to December 2016 and increased by 2.6% as seasonally adjusted series, according to information from the National Institute of Statistics (INS). 
Even though quite high, over 20%, the decline in gross sales from January 2017 compared to December 2016 can be justified by the fact that during the winter holidays is achieved the highest percentage of businesses in the food trade.
Compared to January 2016, the gross sales of food, beverages and tobacco in reported in January 2017 an advance of 2.6% and of 3% as series adjusted by number of working days and seasonality.
Last year, trade of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 13.7% compared to 2015.
