ROMANIA: Olympus brings a new yogurt brand on the market with an investment of 20 million euros | Progresiv
Olympus, one of the largest dairy producers in Romania, is expanding its product portfolio and launches the new Stragghisto Greek yogurt on the local market, following an investment of over 20 million euros.
"With this new production line, we enrich our product portfolio and deliver Stragghisto to consumers, a completely new and authentic product, made according to a traditional recipe from the heart of Greece. We are pleased to announce its availability on the Romanian market and dedicate it to all lovers of quality dairy products", said Athanasios Giannousis, Commercial Director of Olympus Romania.
The new yogurt has low lactose content and the highest level of protein compared to products in the same category on the market, Olympus representatives claim.
Olympus was the first dairy producer to launch Greek yogurt on the local market in 2011. Yogurt is entirely intended for domestic consumption and is distributed in most major chain stores across the country.
Spread over an area of 35,000 sqm, the factory in Halchiu, Brasov County, has a total milk collection capacity of 75 tons per hour. Here are produced yogurt, fresh milk and UHT, cheese and cream. Part of the production is exported to countries such as Italy, Germany, Austria, England and Sweden.
The Olympus Group has been present in Romania since 1999. Between 1999 and 2018, Olympus' total investment in Romania amounted to 130 million euros. The group of companies, owned by a family of third generation dairy farmers, is based in Trikala, Greece, and operates in 43 countries around the world. Currently, Olympus has five production units in three countries (Greece, Romania and Bulgaria), which produce a full range of dairy and natural juices.
