ROMANIA: A new transaction on the retail market: Metro sold the remaining Real stores | Progresiv
German group Metro sold the remaining four Real hypermarkets which they still owned in Romania to Terazone Enterprises Limited, represented among others by a former executive of the retailer, Dusan Wilms, confirmed Metro officials to Progresiv magazine. 
"Metro Group sold the shares owned in the Real Hyper Magazine SRL (which operates the four stores in Romania) to Terazone Enterprises Limited. The transaction was completed on January 20th, 2017, at which the the buyer became the legal owner of those shares", Metro officials said.
After selling 20 stores to Auchan for 250 million euros in 2012, Metro still owned four Real hypermarkets in Constanta, Suceava, Oradea and Arad. The four stores ended financial year 2015-2016 with revenues of 57 million euros, up by 16% compared to the previous year.
Terazone Enterprises Limited is represented by Dusan Wilms, the executive who led Metro Cash & Carry operations in Romania, as well as Real Hyper Magazine (from the transaction with Auchan until the middle of last year), respectively, by Gerardo Monzillo.
In Romania, German group Metro owns 25 Metro Cash & Carry stores, 5 smaller units Metro Punct, a platform for online commerce and La Doi Pasi franchise. In the past three years, more retailers have left the franchise, reducing the number of stores in the chain to about 430 units now from the initial over 700.
