ROMANIA: Mega Image to open in Q2 the first stores in Timisoara | Progresiv
After last year Mega Image inaugurated the first stores in Cluj-Napoca, the retailer puts another city on the expansion map. Thus, in the second quarter, Mega Image will open the first stores in Timisoara, announced Adrian Nicolaescu, VP Marketing Mega Image on the stage of the Progresiv Conference. 
"We're already working at the stores. In a very short time, somewhere in Q2 2018 we will open the first stores in Timisoara and then in other major cities in the country. Timisoara is a city that provokes us, we started to work a little over a year ago and I have to say that people from Timisoara are very different. It took us 20 years to reach Timisoara and to be just as they expect us to be”, said Adrian Nicolaescu.
Mega Image operated at the end of last year 595 stores, of which 510 in the Capital and 85 commercial units in the rest of the country. Currently, the retailer has 9 stores on the Cluj market (4 Mega Image and 5 Shop & Go) and 4.7% market share, according to company data.
In 2016, Mega Image recorded a turnover of 3.32 billion lei, up by 21.32% over the previous year. For 2017, the retailer estimates an increase of over 10% in turnover.
