"What distinguishes us in the retail segment is that we are more than a supermarket, we are a strong brand built on unique indicators, inspired by our customers. In this direction, we have invested and will continue to invest in e-commerce to provide a truly complete shopping experience. We are glad to launch our own online supermarket, which will further support us in the strategy of being close to our customers and providing inspiration for shopping through complete and innovative solutions. Next, we will constantly improve our online platform in the smallest details", said Adrian Nicolaescu, VP Marketing Mega Image.

The online platform www.mega-image.ro offers access to a wide range of products, from dry, fresh and frozen, to products from special corners, Wine Gallery and Equilibrum. For orders in Bucharest, the entire assortment of products is available, and for orders in the country, fresh and frozen products are excluded. With regard to delivery, customers can choose between home delivery and personal order picking at pick-up points in Bucharest, currently over 60 locations within Mega Image stores. The transport is offered free of charge for orders over 250 lei, and below this limit the cost for delivery is 20 lei.

The platform also comes with other benefits from the point of view of online experience: customers can save their own shopping lists for later access, can add products in promotional catalogs directly to the cart or make a recipe in a list of ingredients.

Online retail for food products does not exceed 20 million euros in Romania. "It is a segment that still remains below 1% of the total retail food market, but not the size of the retail market determines us to invest, but the role it will play in the future of the industry", said Vassilis Stavroum, General Manager of Mega Image in an interview for Progresiv earlier this year.

The main competitors of Mega Image on the online area are the stores owned by French retailer Carrefour (Carrefour-Online.ro) and Cora (cora.ro).

Founded in 1995, Mega Image is the largest supermarket chain in Romania, currently operating 573 commercial units. The company, with over 10,000 employees, ended 2016 with business of 4.32 billion lei, reporting an increase of 21% compared to 2015.
